Austrian Pine(Pinus nigra) is an evergreen growing to 70 to 90' in height. Needles are 3" to 6" long occurring in bundles of two, bark is gray, which matures into rough scaly plates. The spreading branches of a young tree form a pyramidal outline, but as it matures, becomes a flat topped large tree. It is well adaped for landscape planting and also serves as a thick screen or windbreak. Austrian Pine is very hardy and will grow well in a variety of soils.
Habitat:
Grows best in full sun. Maximum growth is acheived when the soil is fertile, moist and well-drained.
Uses:
Planted for windbreaks, christmas trees, ornamental. Provides shelter for many kinds of wildlife.
