Mayhaw (Crataegus aestivalis) can reach up to 20 to 30 feet in height with a 20 to 30 foot spread. Mayhaw trees are long-lived and produce a small, round fruit resembling a crabapple and is 1/2" to 1" in diameter. Mayhaw is naturally found in low, wet, slightly acid areas, but will produce best on upland sites in full sun. Mayhaw is best known for the delicious jelly made that is a southern favorite. The mature canopy is ball shaped and is highly desirable as a small ornamental landscape tree. Mayhaws are also desirable for attracting wildlife.
