Has been selected for excellent growth rate and form. A common southern tree, it is an important lumber species that hybridizes with several other pine species. Several Geographic sources are available (Atlantic Coastal, Lower Gulf Coast, Piedmont, and Upper Gulf Coast). These trees should be planted on average or above average sites.
