Sawtooth Oak (Quercus acutissima) is a fast growing attractive landscape tree, with dark lustrous summer foliage and yellow to golden brown fall leaves. Sawtooth Oak grows 40' to 60' with a 50' to 60' spread. Sawtooth Oak produces acorns as early as five years providing food for white-tailed deer, wild turkey and many other kinds of wildlife.
Habitat:
Imported from Asia; widely adaptable to the southeast United States. The sawtooth oak grows in acidic, drought tolerant, loamy, moist, sandy, well drained clay soils. Adaptable to a wide range of soil/climate conditions.
Fruit:
Acorn, 3cm long; cap with long, curved stiff scales covering half of nut. Matures in one season.

Botantical Name:
Querus is Latin for "oak tree"; acutissima means "sharp point" in reference to the leaves.
